Rawa Majid's mother, also known as "the Kurdish fox", may have been arrested in Iraqi Kurdistan, according to information received by Aftonbladet.
"We are aware of the information, but cannot comment on it further", writes Daniel Gazett at the police's national media center in an email to TT.
The arrest is said to have taken place last week, after the mother had been wanted by the Swedish police for over a year for evading a prison sentence. She was sentenced by the court of appeal in the autumn of 2022 to one year and six months in prison for aggravated money laundering.
It is unclear why the mother was arrested and whether she is still in custody.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs cannot comment on the information either.
"The Ministry is currently not working on a case similar to the one described", the ministry writes to TT.
