Putin: Trump is a brave man

Russia's president Vladimir Putin congratulates Donald Trump on his victory in the presidential election. This despite Russia previously saying that it was something one shouldn't do since the USA is "a hostile country".

Instead, one should judge Trump based on his actions.

Putin's statement came during an international conference in the Black Sea resort of Sochi.

I want to take the opportunity to congratulate him on his victory in the American presidential election, says Putin during a question-and-answer session.

The Kremlin leader also says that he is impressed by how Trump acted during the assassination attempt on him at an election rally earlier this year.

People show who they are under extraordinary circumstances. It is here that a person reveals themselves. And he showed himself, in my opinion, in a very correct way, being brave. Like a man, says Putin.

Trump has "probably" spoken with 70 world leaders since Wednesday morning but not yet with Putin:

I think we will talk, says Trump in an interview with NBC News.
