"Princess Sofia is doing well and the birth is expected in February 2025. No changes are expected in Princess Sofia's official program this autumn," writes the Royal Court on their website.

Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist have been married since 2015. They met through mutual friends and she was identified as his girlfriend in the beginning of 2010. The prince's choice was questioned since Sofia Hellqvist had participated in the first season of "Paradise Hotel" and had posed in the men's magazine Slitz.

However, the future princess had also educated herself to become a yoga instructor and started the charity organization Project Playground in 2010. She has been the honorary chairperson of Sophiahemmet in Stockholm since 2016 and worked part-time at the hospital during the covid pandemic with simpler tasks such as cleaning and laundry.

When Carl Philip was born on May 13, 1979, he was the crown prince, but through a constitutional amendment on January 1, 1980, he lost his position as heir to the throne to his older sister Victoria.

The couple lives with their three children at Villa Solbacken on Djurgården in Stockholm.

July 2011: Sofia registers at the same address as Carl Philip. Her suitability as a prince's partner is questioned due to her having posed in the men's magazine Slitz.

June 27, 2014: The couple holds a press conference and announces their engagement. "He surprised me," says Sofia.

July 14, 2014: The first official appearance takes place in connection with Crown Princess Victoria's birthday celebration on Öland.

May 17, 2015: A banns of marriage is held at Stockholm Palace.

June 13, 2015: Sofia Hellqvist becomes Princess Sofia, as well as Duchess of Värmland, when she marries Prince Carl Philip in the Royal Chapel in Stockholm.

April 19, 2016: The couple's first child, Prince Alexander, is born.

August 31, 2017: The couple's second child, Prince Gabriel, is born.

October 7, 2019: The court announces that Princess Madeleine's children as well as Prince Carl Philip's children no longer belong to the royal house and cannot expect to have their living expenses covered by the appropriations allocated to the court.

March 26, 2021: The couple's third child, Prince Julian, is born.
