Two people were found dead after a car fire in Malmö. The incident is being investigated as suspected double murder and the police are seeking tips about a Danish-registered car.

However, the deceased are not Danes.

We are interested in talking to people who have seen the car. It's about a black Danish-registered Toyota RAV4, says Kerstin Gossé, press spokesperson for the police in Malmö.

The bodies have not been definitively identified, but the police have already stated that the deceased are not Danish citizens, which the news agency Ritzau was the first to report.

We have an idea of who they are, but their identities are not fully mapped out and we have not informed their relatives. Since it was a Danish-registered car, several people thought they were Danes. That's why we chose to release information that they are not Danes, says Gossé to TT.

The police are investigating the incident as murder and have set up a special investigation group with analysts and investigators. They are also collaborating with foreign police.

We do that in general, but I can't say which countries are involved, says Gossé.

The bodies will be examined by forensic medicine and the burned-out car has been seized.

We're working at high pressure and continuing with the forensic medical examinations, says Kerstin Gossé.

No one has been suspected yet.
