The man attacked two police officers with a sword on Kungsängen in Jönköping in January.
He has now been sentenced to forensic psychiatric care for attempted murder by the Court of Appeal, reports P4 Jönköping.
It was in January that the police were alerted to the scene when the man was behaving aggressively. One of the police officers was stabbed in the abdomen and suffered life-threatening injuries. The other police officer was injured in the hand. The man was charged with attempted murder, gross violence against a public official, and gross breach of the knife law.
He was sentenced to forensic psychiatric care in the district court but appealed the verdict as he wanted to be acquitted.
The Court of Appeal, however, makes the same assessment as the district court and sentences the man to forensic psychiatric care for two counts of attempted murder. According to P4 Jönköping, the man denies having injured the police officers.
