In an interview with Financial Times, Open AI's CFO Sarah Friar says the company needs to "think carefully about when and where we implement them" when it comes to ads.
According to Financial Times, Open AI has done more than that, and the newspaper refers to new hires the company has made of marketing personnel from, among others, Meta and Google.
Open AI, which was previously not profit-driven, is valued at 6.6 billion dollars but has had difficulty showing any massively positive economic results, largely due to investments in expensive AI technology.
Currently, Chat GPT, the company's most successful product, has around 250 million users per week, according to Financial Times. The premium version of Chat GPT costs 20 dollars per month.
After the interview in Financial Times, Sarah Friar says in a statement:
"Our current business model is experiencing strong growth and we see great opportunities within that model. Although we are open to exploring other revenue streams in the future, we have no active plans for advertising."
