Over a hundred people had to evacuate a hotel in Hammarby Lake City in Stockholm on Monday morning after it started banging in the lobby.

The police initially suspected that it was a detonation. But after the national bomb squad had investigated the site, it was determined that this was not the case.

The perpetrator is said to have been in the lobby, poured out alcohol, smashed glass, and set fire to paper, which made it bang and look like a detonation, says the police's press spokesperson Robert Sennerdal.

According to the police, the incident is linked to an event that occurred during the night.

We believe that this has its origin in an earlier incident, where we have a victim of assault, says the police's press spokesperson Ola Österling.

The man, who was supposed to be a guest at the hotel, could later be arrested by the police.

The incident is being investigated as aggravated arson. No one is said to have been injured in connection with the bang.
