One arrested after explosion in Nyköping

One person in the 18-year-old age group has been detained, suspected of an explosion in Nyköping on Tuesday evening. A day earlier, a hand grenade was found in the same area.

The time was 21:30 on Tuesday when several people alerted the police about a loud bang in the Stenkulla district of Nyköping. On the scene, it was established that something had exploded near a building.

No personal injuries have been reported.

At midnight, the police announced that one person had been arrested. This individual, who is 18 years old, was later detained by the prosecutor, suspected of general endangerment.

Late on Monday evening, a dangerous object was found between two residential buildings in Stenkulla. According to Södermanlands Nyheter, it was a hand grenade that was secured and neutralized by the police.

According to the newspaper, two people under the age of 15 are suspected of being involved in the incident.
