The battery manufacturer Northvolt is now backing away from plans to build a factory in Borlänge. This means that around 1,000 planned jobs are going up in smoke, and instead, the company will be selling the land in Kvarnsveden, writes Dagens industri.
It's too early to be disappointed. The company still has all the opportunities to act in the way required to take responsibility for the situation, if they can't keep their previous promises, says the chairman of the municipal council, Erik Nises (S), to the newspaper.
Northvolt is currently undergoing a large-scale expansion in Sweden, Germany, and Canada, writes the company in a written statement to TT.
"At the same time, a strategic review is being conducted regarding Kvarnsveden, and we are having a discussion with several stakeholders, including the municipality, about the site's future. That discussion is still ongoing, so we will return with further comments when a decision has been made", the statement reads.
