"No agreement in Baku is better than a very, very bad agreement." This is written, among others, by Amnesty and ActionAid in a letter to the G77 group of developing countries and China.
The over 300 organizations behind the letter are urging the developing countries to leave the ongoing negotiations at the climate meeting in Baku if the rich countries do not come up with better proposals.
The organizations are also accusing the USA, EU, the UK, and other rich countries of trying to use the proposed agreement to completely withdraw from any obligations to assist developing countries with climate financing.
"You claim to strive for a rule-based system, but ignore the rules when they do not suit your interests, which poses a risk to billions of people and life on earth."
The letter has been signed by, among others, ActionAid, Amnesty International, CAN International, Christian Aid, and 350.org.
