The consulting firm KPMG is commissioned to review the failed journal system Millennium, announces Västra Götaland Region. A first draft is to be delivered as early as December 10.

"This is an important step to get an independent and transparent picture of the situation. The review is part of our work to ensure that we learn lessons for the future", says Regional Director Håkan Sandahl in a press release.

The billion investment in Millennium was intended to give the 49 municipalities in the Västra Götaland region a common journal system within healthcare, but was stopped in mid-November after just over three days in operation.

Among other things, incorrect information in journals, missing words in referral responses, and problems with acute registration occurred. According to the region's own report to the Medical Products Agency, there was a risk of fatalities due to the deficiencies.
