A nurse from Västergötland risks losing her license after a home birth that ended with the baby's death, reports P4 Jönköping.
The expectant mother – first-time mother – had gone past her due date by two weeks. When the water broke, it was colored by the fetus's meconium.
The nurse contacted the hospital first after the woman had been in labor for six hours.
The baby was delivered with a vacuum extractor, but died during the process.
The Inspectorate of Health and Care (Ivo) accuses the nurse of being "grossly incompetent". She never checked the woman's blood pressure, monitored the fetus incorrectly, did not follow or provide information about the delivery to the hospital.
The nurse has also exaggerated her competence and has not worked within delivery to the extent she claimed.
The Health and Care Board of Appeal will decide on the nurse's license.
