Over a hundred students and at least ten teachers at a school in Holmsund have reported sick in connection with a stomach flu outbreak, writes VK.
All of them are said to have fallen ill during the night against Thursday and the sick leave reports started pouring in during the morning. In the preschool class, as many as 71 out of 99 children are staying home from school.
It's some kind of stomach bug and what's causing it is extremely difficult to know. We've also had some children at the school who felt unwell in the morning and vomited at school, says the school's principal, Henrik Arctaedius to VK.
The school is now investigating what may be behind the outbreak. The school food does not seem to be involved in the drama.
We have several who haven't eaten the food and are still sick among the staff. That suggests it's a common stomach flu that has hit very hard, says Arctaedius.
