The investigation also shows that the man suffered from a serious mental disorder at the time of the crime.

The woman was on her way home from work when she was attacked after getting off the bus on Sunday evening, December 15. The man was on the same bus and followed her when she got off. The 28-year-old woman is believed to have been randomly selected, according to prosecutor Peter Claeson.

He himself has stated that he wanted to kill someone, Claeson told TT.

The man has also previously in life been assessed to suffer from a serious mental disorder and has been subject to compulsory care on several occasions in recent years. In mid-February 2023, a decision was made to discontinue compulsory care for the man.

The decision to discontinue compulsory care has been reported according to lex Maria to be investigated.
