A man in his 40s was stabbed outdoors in Linköping on Friday evening, as Corren reported first.
Just before 9 pm, a passerby alerted the police after discovering blood outdoors in central Linköping.
Later, after some investigative work, a wounded person was located in an apartment. It turned out that he had been attacked with some kind of stabbing weapon at the outdoor location, says Erik Creutz, duty officer at the police, to TT.
The man is being treated at the hospital with serious injuries, but his condition is reported to be stable.
The police's current understanding is that the victim did not know the perpetrator, but rather that it was a case of assault, says police officer Johnny Gustafsson to P4 Östergötland.
This is serious in the sense that you should be able to walk around town without being affected by this type of incident. We hope to get help from people who have made observations that can fit into this case, he says to the channel.
The police have initiated a preliminary investigation into attempted murder and have conducted a technical investigation at the scene. No suspected perpetrator has been arrested yet.
