A man in his 60 to 70 years of age has died in a drowning accident in Ockelsjön, south of Vännäs, reports Västerbottens-kuriren.
It was at 2 pm when the rescue service and ambulance were alerted to the scene. There, the man was found in the water and was taken by ambulance helicopter to Umeå.
When a police patrol arrived at the hospital a short while later, we received notification that the person in question had passed away, says Johan Marklund, RLC commander at the police in Umeå, to VK.
It is unclear what happened, but the police do not suspect any crime at present. Next of kin have been informed.
