Manchester United finished in a historically poor 15th place in the Premier League, lost the Europa League final, and did not lift any trophy last football season.
Right after the season's end, the club went on a post-season tour in Asia, to strengthen the brand in the region.
On social media, film clips have been spread where United players, for example Matthjis de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee, ride around in a bus without a roof in a kind of bus parade in the streets of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital, but not many fans are seen.
Bus parades are commonly occurring when football teams have won major titles.
The images come after United also lost to a Southeast Asian "all star" team with 0–1 on Wednesday.
Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim could not help but poke fun at the English club.
"Oh no! Manchester United failed to win a title again. Looks like you'll have a 'headache' next season. Hopefully, you won't be relegated to The Championship (English second division)", writes Anwar Ibrahim on Facebook.
A match against Hong Kong is scheduled for Friday before the players can turn back home to England again.
