During the night, a larger quantity of diesel has reached the water in Stavsnäs winter harbor on Värmdö, writes the Coast Guard on its website.
It's a larger spill considering it's so local. The spill has, however, been stopped for several hours, which is positive, says Mattias Lindholm, press spokesperson for the Coast Guard to P4 Stockholm.
The spill comes from a fuel station in the harbor. It's unclear how large the quantities are.
A certain amount has been recovered, but since diesel is a volatile oil product, it has spread throughout the entire harbor area.
Lindholm tells P4 Stockholm that a police investigation is underway to determine what caused the spill.
The Coast Guard and rescue services are working on site.
