A four-year-old boy in Umeå died after ingesting methadone at home in January. Now his parents are being prosecuted for gross negligence leading to another's death, according to SVT News Västerbotten.
According to the indictment, the parents had stored the narcotics, which they had not been prescribed, in a way that made them accessible to the boy. They also failed to seek medical attention for him in time after he ingested it.
By their actions, they have failed in their duty to supervise the boy, the prosecutor argues, and is seeking their deportation from Sweden.
Both deny any wrongdoing.
