A powerful fire broke out in an apartment building on Sunday night in central Edsbyn in Ovanåker municipality.
The residents were forced to evacuate and the rescue service fought throughout the night to extinguish the fire and limit its spread.
It's a comprehensive fire, but our goal is to save half of the building, says Håkan Eriksson, alarm and command officer at the Rescue Service.
The building contains a closed shop premises and several rental apartments, but no one is reported to have been injured in the fire, which was alerted just before 1 am.
It's said to have started burning in a car a short distance away at the same time, but it's too early to say if it's connected, says Fredrik Lindström, officer at Police Region Mitt.
The extinguishing work is expected to continue until morning.
