"According to initial information, none of them are seriously injured," the police write on their website.

The fire likely started in the battery of an electric scooter and spread from the balcony of the apartment in question to several neighboring balconies.

Smoke has also seeped into several apartments, which have been evacuated. The rescue service has been inside with smoke divers, and the inner courtyard has been cordoned off to facilitate the operation.

The alarm about the fire came at 4 am on Sunday. A couple of hours later, the fire was extinguished.

It was a fairly extensive fire, but the extinguishing work went quite quickly since the fire was limited to the balconies and never entered the apartments, says Magnus Karlsson, operations manager at the Rescue Service South.

A report of reckless endangerment has been filed by the police.
