A fire broke out at SCA's sawmill in Rundvik, Nordmaling municipality, early on Saturday morning, local media report.
No one has been injured, and there is currently no risk of spreading, says rescue operator Ulf Gille to TT at 10:30 am.
About 20 units from the rescue service are participating in the extinguishing work, which is expected to continue until the afternoon.
They have a machine in operation that can lift out the burning timber. They are also working to ensure that there is no fire in the structure. It is still a difficult extinguishing effort, it is hard to access, says Gille.
The building that is on fire is approximately 80 by 50 meters in size.
