The three boys are not from Malmö, says the police's press spokesperson Nils Norling.
All of them are between 15 and 18 years old. They are suspected of aggravated arson. The police's theory is that they came to Malmö to carry out the attack.
It's nothing we can say for certain. We're of course looking into whether there's a gang connection and possible link to the other incidents that have occurred at the same address, says Norling.
The alarm came in at 01.43 on Thursday morning. According to the police, one of the teenagers smashed a window to the restaurant and then used a flammable liquid.
When he set fire to it, it became an explosive fire. He then left the scene running, says Thomas Paulsson, duty officer in police region South.
The rescue services and police were quickly on the scene and managed to contain the fire to the restaurant section, so it didn't spread to the apartments above.
No one was injured and by 02.30 the fire was extinguished.
The same restaurant has previously been subjected to several attacks. On August 30, a hand grenade was thrown at the premises and on October 14, a fire was started.
