100 million dollars. This is the bill for the owner and shipping company of the vessel that caused the fatal bridge collapse in Baltimore at the end of March, announces the US Department of Justice.
The settlement with the two companies based in Singapore, equivalent to approximately 1.1 billion kronor, will cover, among other things, the federal authorities' costs for removing debris after the bridge collapse.
Six road workers who were on the bridge died in the disaster. Their families are pursuing their own legal proceedings.
The state of Maryland is also pursuing legal proceedings for costs related to rebuilding the bridge.
