The Security Service overrides both the Prime Minister and the Government Offices' Security Department regarding Landerholm. This is claimed by the Social Democratic Party's defence policy spokesperson Peter Hultqvist. There are two quite dramatic things, he says.

Henrik Landerholm is leaving his position as national security adviser since a preliminary investigation has been initiated regarding confidential documents that he left behind at a conference center.

The Social Democrats' Peter Hultqvist, who had already previously demanded Landerholm's resignation, calls it "a fiasco for Kristersson".

There are two quite dramatic things that happen when Säpo starts an investigation, he says and continues:

Säpo is overriding both the Prime Minister and the security department in the Government Offices. They are disapproving of the job they have done, he says.

Questioning Ties

He thinks that the Security Police are doing the job that Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) should have done "a long time ago".

Säpo does not initiate an investigation without strong reasons for it, he says.

Hultqvist thinks that Ulf Kristersson's judgment can be questioned through his ties to Henrik Landerholm.

This also makes one wonder if one can trust the Government Offices' assessment. It is good that some authority has integrity and acts according to regulations and laws, he says about Säpo.

"Too Long a Time"

How do you think a new security policy adviser should be appointed?

It will be very interesting to see how Kristersson will act in that matter, we will study very, very closely how he proceeds and what measures he takes.

Another question one can ask is how effective this new security organization is. What security analyses it produces that we haven't had before, he says.

The Left Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar has also demanded Henrik Landerholm's resignation. She writes in a comment to TT that it is good that he is now leaving, but that it has taken too long:

"The Prime Minister has completely dodged responsibility in this story. Now it must be investigated how this situation has affected the country's security and what responsibility the Prime Minister bears", she writes.
