A man in Haparanda was wrongly detained for over two months. During the time he was locked up, his son was born. The man is now receiving nearly 100,000 kronor in damages, writes Norrländska Socialdemokraten.

The man, who is in his 30s, was arrested a few years ago suspected of human trafficking and aggravated extortion. After two and a half months, he was released. The prosecutor later dropped the investigation.

The Chancellor of Justice (JK) has decided that the man will receive 97,000 kronor in compensation for the time he was detained. The amount is motivated, among other things, by the fact that the man missed his son's birth.
