Chief Physician Wanted to Stop Millennium Earlier

The Västra Götaland Region's new journal system Millennium was paused after just three days. But already one and a half days earlier, the chief physician Jerker Nilson, responsible for patient safety at Södra Älvsborgs Hospital, wanted to stop it.

He presented his criticism at a management meeting, several media outlets report.

I say at the meeting, based on my area, that the hospital currently lacks the prerequisites for safe patient care. And that's a relatively strong card to play, he tells Borås Tidning.

According to Göteborgs-Posten, his alarm was forwarded to, among others, Regional Director Håkan Sandahl the same evening.

Sandahl claims, however, that they first wanted to see if various measures taken had an effect.

I think we have acted on the information we had. We have taken measures in a suitable way, and then we have communicated those measures. So I think we have handled this in a reasonable way, he tells GP.
