Two men in their 30s drove at 140 kilometers per hour when they were caught in a speed trap in the spring.

A strong smell led the police to search the car – and they found nearly eight kilograms of cannabis in the trunk, according to Folkbladet.

The men claim they were in Malmö to visit a local pub with a friend, when they received instructions over the phone to drive to Gothenburg to pick up clothes. They deny any wrongdoing.

However, the Norrköping District Court does not believe the men's story. Since they picked up a bag and a suitcase from an unknown person, they should have understood that there was a risk it was something illegal, according to the court.

The strong smell should also have been an indication that it was not just clothes they were picking up.

The driver is sentenced to one year and six months in prison, and the other man to one year.
