A four-year-old boy in Umeå died last year after an overdose at home. Now his dad is sentenced to prison and deportation, local media reports.
The boy was found lifeless at home in January last year. An ambulance was called, but his life could not be saved. The forensic examination showed that he had been poisoned by methadone.
The father is convicted of gross negligence leading to another's death and drug offenses. His sentence will be imprisonment for one year and three months. He is also deported from Sweden and prohibited from returning for ten years.
The boy's mother is convicted of minor drug offenses and is fined.
