We have contacted our principals and asked them to review their routines, says Katarina Stillesjö Vilhelmsson, area manager at Umeå municipality, to TV4 News.
We have urged them to review reflective vests and such equipment to ensure that it is harmless.
Died on Saturday
The accident occurred at a playground at the preschool on Thursday and the boy was then taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died on Saturday, according to the police.
Prosecutor Anna Lundberg does not want to comment on what happened.
Considering that the investigation is ongoing and that there is secrecy, I cannot go into such details, she says.
Several principals have, however, chosen to remove the reflective vests from their operations, reports SVT Västerbotten.
"Even though we do not have all the details, we will need to take safety measures. Therefore, we will temporarily remove our current reflective vests and be without them during outdoor activities until we find a safer alternative", writes a principal in a message to guardians.
The incident is being investigated as manslaughter.
There are no suspects at present, says Anna Lundberg.
Serious Playground Accident
In a post on the preschool's website, the principal describes the incident as a serious playground accident.
"Our warmest thoughts and condolences go to the child's parents, relatives, and friends", writes the principal.
A representative of the school tells P4 Västerbotten that the staff did everything to help the boy:
The action from the employees has been extremely swift. They immediately called 112, the ambulance was quickly on the scene, the employees immediately performed heart-lung resuscitation until the ambulance personnel took over.
