According to the spokesperson, the bombing took place on Saturday morning when people were waiting for a train that would take them to Rawalpindi.
26 people were killed in the explosion, according to the news agency AFP. Over 10 of the dead were army employees, according to Pakistani police. Station staff and civilians are also among the dead.
Around 50 people were injured in the explosion, according to the news agency AP.
Suicide Bomber
A separatist group, BLA, whose goal is for Baluchistan to break away from Pakistan, has taken responsibility for the attack, according to a statement released by the group. A suicide bomber is said to have targeted soldiers who were at the railway station.
Local police tell the Pakistani newspaper Dawn that it appears to be a suicide attack, but it's too early to confirm.
On the train platform, bloodstains and torn backpacks could be seen, according to a journalist from the news agency AFP.
Condemns the Attack
Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemns the attack.
"The terrorists who have harmed innocent and unidentified civilians will pay a high price," he said in a statement.
Previous attacks in the area have often been carried out by separatist militias. There have also been attacks by Pakistani Taliban and groups linked to al-Qaeda and IS.
