Ten foreign citizens are each awarded a Swedish royal order as a thank you for their help in connection with Sweden's membership in NATO.

Among others, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Finland's former Prime Minister Sanna Marin will receive the royal Order of the North Star, according to the government.

"The awards are an expression of our great gratitude for these individuals' efforts in connection with Sweden's membership in NATO", says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) in a press release.

"I would also like to extend a special thank you to Finland's former President Sauli Niinistö, who has already received the Order of the Seraphim."

In addition to Blinken and Marin, others who will receive the order include Finland's former Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto and NATO's former Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
