In April 2019, a woman was raped by an unknown man in the Haga district of Umeå. The case has remained unsolved, but last summer a hit was made through a DNA register and now a 40-year-old man has been arrested, reports Västerbottens-Kuriren.
The man was caught last summer due to another crime suspicion, and the profile turned out to match the traces that could be secured after the rape five years ago.
As far as is known, the plaintiff and the suspect were completely unknown to each other at the time. However, at the time, both were living in Umeå, says prosecutor Emelie Hammar to VK.
The man is suspected of rape on probable grounds.
