"The investigation has now reached a point where one person has been notified of suspicion regarding involvement in the events that led to two people being found dead", says senior prosecutor Magnus Pettersson, who is the lead investigator, in a press release.
Interrogations will be held with both the suspect and other individuals.
"After that, I will take a stance on the continued detention. Parallel to this, other investigative work is ongoing in the form of technical investigation, collection and analysis of digital evidence and other. This work is being carried out both here in Sweden and in the United Kingdom", Pettersson continues.
It was on July 14 this year that two people were found dead in a burned-out car in an industrial area in Malmö. Shortly after, two Britons were reported missing in Sweden.
The police had an early theory that the dead individuals in the car were the two Britons, but the final identification was delayed until mid-August.
The Britons had rented a car at Kastrup Airport in Copenhagen. The police initially requested tips about a Danish-registered Toyota RAV4 model.
