Vasaparken sits in the Vasastan district, near the S:t Eriksplan and Odenplan subway stations. Its eastern side has lawns, walking paths with benches, boule courts, two cafés and a mini-golf course. The football pitch is surfaced with artificial turf and is turned into an artificially frozen skating rink in winter.
The western side has grassy slopes, large trees and winding paths, as well as a playground and a staffed park play area. In the south-west are a dog run, an outdoor gym and a yoga pavilion. Visitors can walk, sit, play or picnic in the park. The city also lists basketball courts among the park’s facilities.
At the north-eastern end, Astrid Lindgren’s terrace overlooks the pitch and park. It is near Dalagatan, where the author lived. The park also contains the artwork Kudden and a bronze sculpture of a worker by Gottfrid Larsson. The terrace gardens on the south-western hill were laid out in the 1940s by architect Erik Glemme. Vasaparken was developed around the turn of the 20th century for sport, play and walks. Adjacent to the park is Sven-Harry’s Art Museum.
