Hallonbergen subway station opened in the mid-1970s, as construction continued in the suburb where the first tenants of its Million Programme apartment blocks had moved in 1969. Artists Elis Eriksson and Gösta Wallmark decorated the station with artwork inspired by their childhoods.
The artwork includes colorful drawings of fantastical beasts and imaginative contraptions. Eriksson and Wallmark used drawings from their own childhoods and drawings made by their children. A visit here is a chance to look at those images as part of the station, rather than in a gallery. Hallonbergen means “Raspberry Mountains” in Swedish, a name art guide Marie Andersson says sounds as if it could come from a fairytale. The station is on Stockholm’s blue subway line, number 11. The material gives no visit duration, admission price or opening hours.
