Blåsarsymfonikerna puts Antonio Vivaldi at the centre of a concert of classical works arranged for wind orchestra. The programme includes music from The Four Seasons, alongside works by Agata della Pietà and Maddalena Laura Lombardini Sirmen. Both composers had ties to Venice’s charitable institutions and orphanages, where Vivaldi also worked. Finnish conductor Maria Itkonen leads the ensemble, with oboist Johanna Orrje as soloist in Alessandro Marcello’s oboe concerto. The concert is for listeners curious about Vivaldi and the composers around him, as well as those who know the classical repertoire and want to hear it in wind arrangements.
Before the concert, a recorder ensemble from Kulturskolan Stockholm performs in the foyer under the direction of teacher Claudia Müller. Its programme includes music by Vivaldi and Karl Jenkins.
