Bagarmossens tunnelbana is an underground station on Stockholm’s green line 17. Along its walls are coloured glass panels by Gert Marcus, installed when the underground station was built. The work is described through changes in colour and shades that blend into one another. Art guide Marie Andersson says the work does not represent anything in particular, while those shifts in colour recur in Marcus’s work.
Bagarmossen’s earlier station was an outdoor platform in the centre of the district. It was the first station to be closed and taken out of use. Until 1994, it was the terminus of the green line. When the line was extended towards Skarpnäck, the old station was demolished and a new one was built underground to make the route easier to lay out. The artwork came with that rebuilding. A visit here is about seeing the glass panels and understanding the station’s two histories: the former outdoor terminus and the underground station built for the extension. The station is on the green line, route 17.
