Amalienborg Museum is housed in Christian VIII’s Palace, one of the four palaces where the Danish royal family has a residence when in Copenhagen. Visitors walk through historic working rooms, then see the Gallasal, which the royal family still uses for special occasions, and objects including large wine coolers in the Fabergé room.
Queen Alexandrine’s Salon opened as an exhibition space on 3 July 2026. It occupies the palace dining room, in the rooms where Queen Alexandrine and Christian X lived as a royal couple from 1899 to 1947. The museum also offers public guided tours and private tours for groups. A virtual tour lets visitors move through the palace and zoom in on paintings and objects.
Admission tickets bought online are discounted. The website does not give a full ticket price in the visitor information. You can combine a visit with the Royal Life Guard’s changing of the guard on the palace square. The museum entrance is in the gateway nearest Frederiksgade. From there, visitors go down to the museum shop, where a lift leads to the cloakroom and an elevator. The museum says wheelchair users and people with limited mobility can visit all of it.
