The Hirschsprung Collection is an art museum focused on Danish art from the 19th century. Its collection includes works by Golden Age painters C.W. Eckersberg and Christen Købke, Skagen painters P.S. Krøyer and Anna Ancher, and Symbolists L.A. Ring and Vilhelm Hammershøi. Visitors can explore the collection, including works presented under “The Modern Breakthrough: Masterpieces from the museum’s collection,” or book guided tours on themes from the collection and temporary exhibitions. The collection spans several strands of 19th-century Danish art, from the Golden Age to Skagen and Symbolism.

Now, the temporary exhibition “The Funen Painters: Art Above All!” runs from 18 September 2026 to 24 January 2027. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 17:00, and closed on Mondays. Hirschsprung LATE takes place on the last Thursday of each month, when the museum is open until 20:00.

The museum’s calendar covers events, guided tours and other activities. It also invites visitors to explore what it describes as small gems and major masterpieces by Danish artists. The exhibition and collection can be visited during the regular opening hours; guided tours are another way to explore the art.
