The Museum of Hunting and Humanity in Lagan follows Swedish history from the point when the ice age began to recede through the formation of the democratic society in place today. Its account starts with a mural by artist Manuel Pino Varas. The venue says Varas created the Cliff Burton Memorial in Dörarp, which it describes as one of Kronoberg County’s internationally best-known cultural attractions. Visitors can follow the mural to see how Sweden developed locally and nationally.
Museum displays focus on who was responsible for hunting in different eras. They trace hunting in Sweden from the first people and animals to roam the country to today’s democratic, organised hunting system. The museum also invites visitors to open the door to Älgparken, its moose park, to meet the moose and get information about the animals and how they live. Visit Sweden places the museum in Småland and describes it as a destination for people interested in nature and history.
