Skogs- och samemuseet in Lycksele has exhibitions on forest history and Sami culture, a forest cinema with short films, temporary exhibitions and a reconstructed forestry workers’ hut. Its current exhibition, “Framsteg och försök i skog” (“Progress and experiments in forestry”), opened on 1 July 2026 in the Maskinepoken gallery. It uses photographs from the museum archive to trace changes from older forestry methods to those used today.

Visitors can try a timber simulator and children can use the children’s corner. The museum shop sells books and Sami handicrafts. At Gammplatsen, a peninsula in the Ume River, visitors can also see historical buildings and a cultural botanical garden with plants from Lapland. The site was formerly a meeting place for Sami people, settlers and traders, with markets, court sessions and church festivals held there.

The museum hosts events including Christmas markets and children’s workshops. Café Ruselegården serves food in summer and at special events. The museum’s website page gives no admission price or opening hours, and no visit length is stated.
