The Forestry and Elk Horn Museum in Strömsberg brings forestry exhibits and a moose-antler collection together in an old steam building. Its forestry section shows the work of forest workers and aims to explain what forestry work was like in the past. The horn collection documents moose shot across large forest areas in Norduppland.
Activity at the site continued until 1961. The Forest Museum Strömsberg project began in 2003 to tell the story of forest workers’ lives. Its first part opened on 20 August 2005, and the project is still being developed. The museum also accepts forest tools.
A visit gives visitors a chance to see the antler collection alongside the museum’s account of forestry work and workers’ lives. The exhibits connect two parts of local history: moose shot in Norduppland’s forests, and the work of people in forestry. The museum’s stated purpose is to tell the public how forestry work was done in the past, and it accepts forest tools for that purpose.
