Oscar Fredriks kyrka was designed in the late 19th century by church architect Helgo Zettervall and inaugurated on Easter Sunday in 1893. It was named after King Oscar II. The church is open on weekdays from 09:00 to 15:00. On Sundays, an Oscar Fredrik service is held at 17:00.

Inside, visitors can see an altarpiece made by Erik Abrahamsson in the mid-1940s, and choir windows painted by Albert Eldh in the 1930s. The windows show scenes from the Old and New Testaments, including Moses on Mount Sinai, Christ on the Mount of Transfiguration and Paul’s conversion outside Damascus. A gallery organ built by Olof Hammarberg’s workshop in Gothenburg in 1969 replaced the original 1893 organ; the earlier organ front was kept. The church also has a choir organ from 1953 that can be played from the gallery organ.

The church has been restored in 1915, 1940 and 1978. During the 1940 work, the side galleries were removed and decoration on arches and capitals was painted over. In 1978, the pulpit was returned to its original position on the south side of the choir, and older wall paintings and decorations were uncovered. Preserved documentation areas show how the church’s colours looked in 1893, 1915 and 1940. The church website also offers a virtual tour.
