The Gästrikeleden Trail covers 270 kilometres of marked walking trails around Gästrikland, with traversing and connecting trails. Its route takes walkers around the region’s countryside and cultural history. The network offers marked paths for walking through the area, with connecting routes as part of the trail system.

Naturkraft Gästrikland is a nonprofit association. It describes its vision as a diversity of sustainable nature experiences for residents and visitors. The organisation’s hiking page points visitors to Naturkartan, which it describes as a way to make it easier and safer to spend time in nature, with experiences for body and mind.

A notice on Naturkraft’s page says Storm Johannes felled many trees in local forests and that clearing work will take a long time. The notice advises checking trail status on Naturkartan before setting out and being careful in the forest. Visit Sweden describes the trail as a journey around Gästrikland, but gives no particular itinerary or visit length.

Good to know

Check trail status on Naturkartan before setting out, and take care in the forest.
