"Almost Certain" – 2024 the Warmest Year
With great likelihood, 2024 will be the warmest year on record, according to the EU's climate service Copernicus. .
Two months of "severe heat stress" in Southern Europe
It became an extremely warm summer in parts of Europe this year, according to the EU's climate service Copernicus. In southeastern Europe, parts of the population were affected by 66 days of severe heat stress, which means temperatures perceived as above 32 degrees.
Summer 2024 the Warmest on Record
The summer of 2024 was the warmest so far that the EU's climate service Copernicus has recorded, globally. It is estimated to increase the likelihood that the year as a whole will be the warmest on record.
The heat trend is broken – after 13 months
For the first time in over a year, the heat record was absent. July 2024 became "only" the second warmest July month ever measured on Earth.
