Sweden is revenge-hungry after the Olympic Games miss last summer, but injuries interfere. The favorite position instead ends up as usual on Denmark. Here is the guide ahead of the men's handball World Championship.
SportsOne step in the right direction – despite the recent reshuffles in the World Championship squad due to injured players. The national handball team travels to Oslo as winners after 26–24 against Iceland. Extremely important. That's what you need as a team, says national team captain Michael Apelgren to SVT.
SportsThe national handball team will have to manage without midfielder Max Darj in the World Championship that starts next week. He has sustained an injury to a ligament in his knee.
SportsMax Darj became the next player on the blue-yellow injury list. Now, national team captain Michael Apelgren chooses to call in line player Andreas "Stycket" Nilsson. Regardless of how injured Max is, "Stycket" will now be part of the World Championship squad, says national team captain Michael Apelgren to Aftonbladet.
SportsInjured midfielder Oscar Bergendahl is replaced in the Swedish World Championship team – by a left-hander. Olle Forsell Schefvert has received a call-up from the handball national team's head coach Michael Apelgren.
SportsAlarming news for the national handball team: Mid-six Oscar Bergendahl was carried out on a stretcher in Magdeburg's Bundesliga match against Gummersbach.
SportsHe has not played championships for two years. But at the Handball World Championship in January, Niclas Ekberg is back. Clearly, a player with a hell of a routine, a legend, will mean a lot, says national team coach Michael Apelgren.
SportsMany injured players and a national team organization that is not complete. National team captain Michael Apelgren is not experiencing a gentle start to the new job: It's a bit messy, to say the least.
SportsThe new national team captain Michael Apelgren delivered no evasions when he presented his first handball squad. He spoke plainly about why he rejects certain veterans. It is also permitted for you in the media to write about whether you agree or not, says the 40-year-old.
SportsFirst, Jim Gottfridsson was suspended. Late on Thursday evening, the nightmare news also arrived that Felix Claar, who complained of heel pain after the last match, will miss the handball national team's decisive match against Croatia in the Olympic Games on Friday.
SportsAt last, the Swedish handball men woke up in the Olympic Games. A strong second half secured the welcome victory, 29–26, against Spain. We showed our true self today, says goalkeeper Tobias Thulin.
SportsFresh Champions League winner with Barcelona and praised by national team teammates. Yet he is somewhat of a hidden gem, the left-winger Jonathan Carlsbogård. He may not get the headlines he deserves sometimes, considering there are other big profiles in the team that the media would rather write about.
SportsThe goalkeeper Mikael Appelgren makes a comeback in the national team and is selected in the squad for the Olympics in Paris. Fantastic fun, says "The Apple", who hasn't quite grasped the happy news. 17 men are in the squad. Three of them will be registered as reserves.
