Swedish National Agency for Education
Sets curricula and rules for preschool, school, adult education and SFI, and explains the school system.
Skolverket
What it handles: curricula and syllabuses, national tests, rules for preschool, compulsory and upper secondary school, komvux and SFI, and the guide to the education system at utbildningsguiden.skolverket.se, partly in English.
How to reach it: call or email; places in preschool, school, komvux and SFI are applied for with your municipality or the school, not with Skolverket.
Where people get stuck: SFI is free and run by the municipality, but you cannot get CSN student finance for SFI. Independent schools (friskolor) set their own term dates, so check with the school.
