The women, who are in their 20s and 25s, are also convicted of assault. The sentence is set to 1.5 years in prison.
The incident occurred at the end of May this year, after a fight broke out in the apartment. According to the indictment, the two women assaulted the plaintiff with the help of an object. The prosecutor wanted them to be convicted of aggravated rape.
However, according to the district court, it has not been proven that the act was of such a nature that it could be equated with a completed rape.
The court nevertheless establishes that the women acted together, as they performed a sexual act with violence that "was intended to violate the plaintiff's sexual integrity".
"The women are instead convicted according to the prosecutor's alternative offense of gross sexual assault and assault," says Judge Ewa Lindbäck in a press release.
The older of the women is also convicted of unlawful threats, after threatening the victim's life.
The women have consistently denied the crime.
