Ukraine and Russia have exchanged 190 prisoners of war, announces Russia's Defense Ministry on Friday. The exchange deal was negotiated by the United Arab Emirates.
"As a result of the negotiation process, 95 Russian soldiers have been returned from territory controlled by the Kyiv regime", says the Russian Defense Ministry in a statement.
"In return, 95 prisoners of war from the Ukrainian army were handed over", they add.
Kyiv has not confirmed the exchange.
Despite the ongoing war, Russia and Ukraine have exchanged hundreds of prisoners since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, often in deals mediated by the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, or Turkey.
The last reported exchange took place last month, when 206 prisoners of war were exchanged. Then, too, the exchange was mediated by the United Arab Emirates.
